Virginia was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1979. She was admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1991. Her areas of practice include copyright, life, health and disability insurance, ERISA, occupational benefits in the transportation industry and she is a member of the Elkins, PLC Cybersecurity & Privacy Protection team.

Virginia has extensive experience in advising clients on transactional matters and issues concerning the applicability of state and/or federal laws to insurance contracts and self-funded benefit plans as well as insurance coverage analysis. She litigates matters in state and federal courts in Louisiana, including matters involving copyright issues, life, health, disability and long term care benefits, ERISA benefits, ERISA preemption, ERISA fiduciary issues, non-ERISA occupational benefits in the transportation industry, reinsurance, stop loss insurance, agent and/or broker errors and omissions claims, material misrepresentations, rescission of contracts, fraud, suicide as a defense, subrogation claims, managed care and market conduct issues. She is the editor for Louisiana and/or the Fifth Circuit of the ABA ERISA Surveys of the Federal Circuits and publications on Misrepresentations in the Life, Health and Disability Application Process.
