Shawn Kiefer

Shawn Kiefer joined the firm in 2017, having practiced law for nearly 14 years, and spending nearly a
decade practicing with a large firm. Mr. Kiefer’s practice touches on nearly every type of transaction,
occurrence and circumstance encountered in the business world, including, without limitation: start-ups
and formations, finance (capital raises, borrowing, lending and investing transactions), mergers and
acquisitions, sales, and divestitures of interests and assets, insolvency, all manner of commercial
contracts, regulatory and compliance matters, government relations matters, international law, foreign
and cross-borders transactions and matters, software, copyright and other intellectual property
acquisition and licensure, title issues, health care, taxation, tax credits and other incentives, health care,
distilled spirits, renewable energy, technology, litigation and dispute resolution, and all manner of
special and unique projects and opportunities. Mr. Kiefer also uses his creative problem-solving skills to
mediate and otherwise resolve claims and disputes without litigation.
Mr. Kiefer received his juris doctor degree and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law
Center, Louisiana State University, in 2004. While in law school, Mr. Kiefer served as a judicial extern to
Judge James J. Brady of the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, was a semi-finalist
in the Robert L. Tullis Competition, a member of the Moot Court Board, and co-chair of its Appellate
Advocacy Committee. Prior to returning home to New Orleans, in addition to practicing law, Mr. Kiefer
served as an adjunct professor of business law at Louisiana State University at Alexandria.
